Swiss retirement

Swiss retirement consists of 3 pillars
  • - 1st pillar: State pension
  • Mandatory for all, it covers basic needs. It entitles you to a monthly pension for life, calculated according to your years of contribution.
  • - 2nd pillar: Occupational pension
  • Mandatory for employees, it is paid by the company and the employee with contribution rates that increase with age. You choose between a monthly pension and a single capital at retirement. This choice is irreversible.
  • - 3rd pillar: Private pension
  • Optional, it allows you to complete the first 2 pillars. It offers tax benefits that encourage savings before retirement.

French retirement

French retirement has 2 levels:
  • - 1st level: Basic retirement
  • Mandatory for all employees, it is calculated based on the average annual income, the rate (up to 50%) and the number of quarters contributed. The amount depends on your career length and starting age.
  • - 2nd level: Supplementary pension
  • Also mandatory, it works by points. You earn points every year, which are converted into a monthly pension when you retire. The amount depends on the number of points earned.
